I
walked across the bridge from El Paso to Ciudad Juarez back in 1976 but most
of my experience in Mexico dates from 1987, when Maureen & I
traveled to Cancun on a packaged tourist charter flight. Since then, I
have returned more than fifty times, but not to Cancun since 1990.
We still fly in and out of the Cancun International Airport because of
the variety of flights and the opportunity for better prices. A flight
from where we live in the United States to Cozumel can be as much as
$100 to $200 more than a flight to Cancun. Round trip from Cancun
Airport to Cozumel VIA ADO ~ BUS
TO Playa del Carmen and ferry from
Playa del Carmen to San Miguel is less than $50USD per person. We think
it is worth the effort for that saving. A travel day is a wasted day
anyway. Cancun works well for almost any destination in the region. We
continue to return to Mexico because of the familiarity that we have
cultivated over more than twenty years. We know what we can
afford, what we can expect and we have compiled a "bucket list" of
adventures to carry us into the future. We don't live there...we only
promise dive clients that "we will meet them in Mexico"....but, never
say never. Just because we don't live there now doesn't mean we
wouldn't like to in the future.
You are welcome (at your own peril) to use any of this information to plan your own adventures. C
